Stacey

Stacey Burmeister is an artist whose reputation grows with her ability to transform delicate pencil sketches into startlingly realistic images of the animals she portrays. Her eye for technical detail, including conformation features, captures characteristics usually caught only by a photograph.

Beginnings

Growing up on a farm was Stacey's inspiration for drawing animals. Her great love for horses showed through in her work as a young child.  It was hard to get her to draw anything other than horses. There was always encouragement early on from her family, friends and teachers to continue to develop her drawing skills. After high school she attended Albion College and earned her visual arts degree.

The primary mediums used to create her works are pencil, pastel and oils. She also has experience with lithography, graphics, water color, sculpture, ceramics and Adobe programs.

African Safari

Stacey was given a wonderful opportunity to go on safari in South Africa. Throughout the two week trip she shot twenty four rolls of film. Many new wildlife art works will be created from these photographs. A special series of Bushmen drawings will be created from her photographs taken while visiting the Sans Bushmen Village near the border of Namibia. These portraits will depict the Bushmen in their daily lives, beliefs and practices.
